Reading Comprehension — The Five Pauses Technique
Presented by Tony Xavier·65 min·VARC
About this session
The Five Pauses Technique is a deliberate, paragraph-level reading discipline. Pause after paragraph 1 to identify the topic; after paragraph 2 to track structural function; after each subsequent paragraph to predict what comes next; at the end to articulate main idea and tone. The technique converts passive reading into active comprehension and is the single highest-leverage intervention for RC accuracy. Our /blog/five-pauses-technique-rc article covers the prose version.
